St. Peter's Church, Chetnole

This church dates back to the Thirteenth Century. Slater and Carpenter refurbished the building between 1860 and 1865, including rebuilding the chancel.

Salviati inlaid the alabaster reredos with mosaic during this time.

  1. Something from the thirteenth century! As one who was unfairly prejudiced against learning history by teachers who considered it to be a "simple" act of memorizing names and dates, I am finding a love of learning history as I research my genealogy. I'm focused on bringing the early 1800s to life now. How funny to think of something being refurbished during the mid 1800s. Thanks for sharing.
