Parts of the Hatfield Parish church date to the 13th century. David Brandon rebuilt the nave in 1872 in a Victorian style.
The north chapel holding the tomb of the 1st Earl of Salisbury Robert Cecil was added in 1618 by his son. The third Marquess had the interior of the chapel adorned with Venetian mosaics by Salviati in 1871.
The Caen marble reredos showing the Marys at the Cross, flanked by St. Etheldreda and St. Alban on either side was carved by Thomas Earp. It was also decorated with Venetian mosaics by Salviati.

Krause Family Tomb
Friedrich Wilhelm von Krause was a Berlin wine merchant, banker, and industrialist who died in 1877. His family tomb (for Wilhelm and his wife Flora) was designed by Friedrich Hitzig, who previously designed both Krause's palace on Leipziger Platz and the Berlin Stock Exchange.
The mosaics, designed by Karl Gottfried Pfannschmidt and Anton von Werner, were executed by Salviati and cover 500 square feet. Von Werner previously designed the monumental mosaics on the rotunda of the Berlin Victory Column.

This engraving of the interior of the church appeared in an 1871 publication and it shows bare arcades on the pulpit, which means that the mosaics were installed sometime after 1871.

Catholic Parish of St. Brigid's, Marrickville
St. Brigid's Retreat was built in 1886 and it was later taken over by Irish Passionists. The current Catholic church was built 1918-21 and it is the second largest church in Sydney.
Salviati & Co. made the mosaic altar reredos for the original church based upon a commission from the Very Reverend Father Bertrand Mangan (1873-1933), who left Ireland for Australia in 1915.
The 13th Station of the Cross is one of the fourteen mosaic scenes also by Salviati depicting Christ's Passion.
