Samuel Merrett designed the church, which was built 1865-69. In 1883, architect Robert Dalton began a two year project that added the transepts and a temporary wooden sanctuary. The chancel and the permanent sanctuary weren't completed until 1888 by Urban Billing.
The mosaic reredos of Christ and the Pilgrims at Emmaus was designed by Clayton and Bell and made by Salviati. The inscription states that it was in memory of "Matilda Charlotte Sellar Died 21st Nov 1888". The central panel is flanked by an angel on either side, one holding a banner that reads "He was known of them" and the other "In breaking of bread."

Kaiser Friedrich III Mausoleum
The structure holding the final resting place of the German emperor was added to the north side of the Protestant Church of Peace (Friedenskirche) located in Potsdam's Sanssouci Park between 1888 and 1890. The architect was Julius Raschdorff, who also designed the Berlin Dom (Cathedral) and Reichsburg Castle, the latter which also had Salviati mosaic decorations.
Friedrich's sarcophagus is located in the middle of the rotunda, alongside that of his wife Empress Victoria. As the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria, she was the former Princess Royal of Great Britain and Ireland. The tombs of two of their young sons are also interred here.
Salviati adorned the tomb with mosaics, including those on the wall showing "VRI" for Victoria Regina Imperatrix, which are now missing. As seen from the recent picture above, compared to the interior in 1931 the entire lower level has been refaced in black marble. The interior of the dome is still said to contain the mosaics of alternating angels and palm trees; however, entrance to the mausoleum is restricted and no photographs have been found.

Scheibler Palace, Lodz
This neo-Renaissance building was rebuilt in 1886-88 for Lodz's "Cotton King" Karl Wilhelm Scheibler .
The figure in the mosaic bears an uncanny resemblance to the woman in Pre-Raphaelite John William Waterhouse's 1873 painting "The Unwelcome Companion", including the tilt of her head and the shawl across her abdomen.
The building now houses the Lodz Film Museum, but a large part of the residence has also been preserved.

Salviati decorated the fireplace mantle in Scheibler's office with a mosaic of a gypsy woman (or alternately called a Turkish woman). A stand-alone, identical mosaic dated 1884 was sold in 2011 by a private collector in Connecticut for $32,500 through Christie's auction house. The figure in the mosaic bears an uncanny resemblance to the woman in Pre-Raphaelite John William Waterhouse's 1873 painting "The Unwelcome Companion", including the tilt of her head and the shawl across her abdomen.

Villa Hanbury
Formerly the Palazzo Orengo, the villa is best known for its 18 hectares of botanical gardens (Giardini Botanici Hanbury) that is now operated by the University of Genoa.
Salviati manufactured the mosaic of Marco Polo with emblems of navigation that decorates a porch vestibule. It is signed "Salviati - 1888." The portrait is modeled after a painting by Giulio Carlini. Salviati exhibited an identical mosaic at the 1881 Milan Exhibition.

St. Stephen's Church, Philadelphia
Built 1822-23, this Episcopal church was designed by architect William Strickland in the emerging Gothic revival style.
The church underwent extensive renovations in 1878 under the direction of Frank Furness and it was at this time that it was decorated in the high Victorian style.
Henry Holiday designed the cartoon for the altar reredos that was completed in July 1888 and unveiled in January 1889. Measuring twelve by five feet, it was executed mostly by Salviati's mosaicists, although all of the heads were personally done by Holiday and his wife. It contains over 180,000 tesserae depicting The Last Supper and it is very similar to Holiday's reredos in St. Chad's Church in Kirkby, England.
Incidentally, the church was built on the site where Benjamin Franklin famously flew his kite.

Teatro Tomas Terry, Cienfuegos
Located about 150 miles southeast of Havana, this luxury theater was built 1887-89 after a substantial donation from the Venezuela-born Irishman Thomas Terry, who made his fortune as a sugar baron.
The facade is decorated with Salviati mosaics from 1888 depicting "Terpsichore" or the Muse of Dance seated with her lyre, with mosaic masks of "Tragedy" and "Comedy" on either side.
The entire building including the mosaics was restored recently and the theater received the 2008 National Vanguard and National Property Preservation Award.
