Boitzenburg Castle Chapel and Vaults

A fortress stood on this site as early as in the 13th century, however the beginnings of the present castle date to the 16th century when the von Armin family took it over.

The castle was remodeled many times, including in the neo-Renaissance style by Count Adolf von Armin between 1881-84 with architect Carl Doflein.

After Doflein's renovations

Doflein also led the construction of the family burial vaults between 1887-89 in the park northeast of the castle in an area called Caroline Grove (Carolinenhein). The stone mausoleum is guarded on each side by life-sized lion statues. Salviati is documented as having made mosaic decorations for both the castle's chapel, as well as the burial vaults.

The von Armin family burial vaults

The von Armin family lost the castle and the grounds to German nationalization during World War II, and the property fell into disrepair. The main building was extensively renovated in the 1990s and today is open as a hotel.

The interior of the vault is extremely deteriorated. 

The Waldkapelle Mellenau (Mellenau Forest Chapel) was built in 1906 by Anna von Armin Mellenau not far from the castle. It was extensively renovated in the 1990s and there are no signs of any mosaics.

St. Joan of Arc Parish, Harrowgate

This Roman Catholic parish was founded in 1919, but the present church building dates to 1946.

The mosaic roundels of the twelve apostles located between the nave's arches were made by Salviati sometime before 1889 and they were listed on the firm's inventory for the 1893 World Columbian Exposition (or the Chicago World's Fair).

The roundels were initially installed in Philadelphia's St. James Episcopal Church, which was built in 1871 after designs by architects Frasier, Furness and Hewitt. However, this church - on the corner of Walnut and 22nd Streets - was sold in 1945 and subsequently demolished.

In May 1947, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the mosaics were being re-installed in St. Joan's. As of September 2013, there was the possibility that St. Joan's would be merged with another local parish and the building would be deconsecrated and sold.

St. Mary de Crypt Church, Gloucester

This church was built in the 12th century and retains some of its original Norman features.

The reredos, from 1889, was designed by F.S. Waller and carved by H.C. Frith. The mosaic decoration was made by Salviati after cartoons by Nathaniel Hubert John (N.H.J.) Westlake.

Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Located in Bussana Nuova, Italy this church was built 1889-1901 after an earthquake devastated the city.

Piero Saccano supervised the installation of the Salviati mosaics on the facade, including the tympanum above the main door.

The four Evangelists in their symbolic forms surround a seated Christ.

British and Foreign Marine Insurance Co. Ltd.

Located just blocks from Albert Dock and adjacent to Liverpool Town Hall, this building on the east side of Castle Street was designed in 1889 by G.E. Grayson and housed the British and Foreign Marine Insurance Company for almost 70 years.

A colorful mosaic frieze of three separate shipping scenes located above the second-floor windows is attributed to the Salviati Company. 

The panel on the left is the most damaged out of the three, but it is signed on the bottom right corner by the mosaic's designer: "Frank Murray 1889".
