St. Paul's Cathedral, Dundee

Located on the High Street in Dundee, this Scottish Episcopal church was built 1853-55 to designs by G.G. Scott. Constructed of brown sandstone in the Gothic Revival style, it wasn't dedicated until ten years later and it wasn't raised to cathedral status until 1905.

The large Salviati mosaic of Christ in Glory in the Clayton & Bell designed reredos dates to 1865.

From an 1887 guide to St. Paul's: "An elaborate piece of alabaster work with shafts of various marbles, and enclosing a rich piece of mosaic by Salviati of Venice, designed by Messrs Clayton & Bell. The subject is our Blessed Lord in glory, surrounded by adoring angels. The Central Figure is of great dignity - seated and crowned - holding in one hand the cross-crowned orb of the world, and the other uplifted in benediction. Immediately beneath are a circle of the cherubim and seraphim, while below angel figures, two with censers, and the rest with various musical instruments, are grouped in graceful order. The plinth of the reredos is inlaid with malachite and other stones, and the whole is surmounted with some fine pinnacles, terminating in the symbolic figure of a pelican feeding her young with her blood, with angel figures on either side."

The Bridge Church, Headless Cross

Formerly known as St. Luke's, this church was built in 1867 by architect Frederick Preedy.

Salviati decorated the stone altar sometime before 1878 with mosaics of the Lamb of God as well as the alpha and omega.

Priory Church of St. Dominic

The priory opened in 1867 and its Roman Catholic church was built in 1874-83 by Charles A. Buckler in an Early English style.

Buckler also designed the neo-Gothic High Altar, which is embellished with Salviati mosaics.

Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Compton Pauncefoot

This 15th century church was renovated by William Slater in 1864.

Salviati mosaics adorn the reredos.

St. James Church Cowley

This 12th century Norman church was enlarged by G.E. Street in 1864-65.

Salviati's ornamental decoration for the church can be seen in the mosaic background of the Crucifixion on the altar reredos.

St. John the Evangelist, Alloa

Designed by architect Robert Rowand Anderson, a former student of G.G. Scott, this Scottish Episcopal church near Glasgow was built 1867-69.

The mosaic reredos of The Last Supper is by Salviati.

Church of the Ascension, Chicago

The church building has been standing in its present location since 1867. St. Faith's Chapel was added in 1874 by John Addison and it included a new sacristy with a marble altar and reredos.

Salviati made the mosaics on the tabernacle door and the panels on the 1893 altar that was designed by Edward J.N. Stent.

Agnus Dei or Lamb of God in the middle, surrounded by the four Evangelists.

St. David's Cathedral

This is a late-Norman cathedral in Wales that has undergone numerous renovations over the centuries including one by G.G. Scott 1862-70.

A carved screen separates the nave from the choir, beyond which is the presbytery containing the high altar.

Designed by John Hardmann Powell, three mosaic panels from 1871 decorate the high altar.

The crucified Jesus, John, Mary Magdalene and Mary in the central panel.

Ecclesia, representing the Christian Church, is on the left.

Synagoga, symbolizing the Jewish synagogue, is on the right.

Church of St. Bridget Wavetree

This church in Liverpool was built 1868-72 by Edward Arthur (E.A.) Heffer in the style of an Italianate basilica.

A reredos of The Last Supper by Salviati from 1866 decorates the altar.

Chester Cathedral

Also known as Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, the current building dates back to the 13th century.

The building underwent a major restoration in 1868-76 by G.G. Scott, leading to its current high Victorian look.

A Salviati mosaic of The Last Supper from 1876 designed by J.R. Clayton decorates the high altar.

Salviati mosaics can also be found in the St. Erasmus Chapel of the cathedral.
